For the MIM project, Van Hauten continues his research about fictional documentary, the aspects of the indefinite place and time of dreams in relation to story-telling and his special subject-centered camera system. In an investigation into personal dreams as well as image formation of Dutchness, Van Hauten will give the camera literally to a variety of people from diverse social and political backgrounds. During the montage the visuals and audio of different stories will be interchanged in order to challenge presumptions of the viewer. The final presentation is planned to be a video-installation with live-sized imaginary and daily video blog (www.egotrip.tv).?Van Hauten particular visual language, the Trash Art, is popular phenomenon that belongs to consumer societies; it’s a hypothesis worthwhile investigating within Made in Mirrors that its aesthetics are not common or appreciated in countries as Brazil and China. This aspect could lead towards a contribution of the planned conference about curating cultural diversity (autumn 2009).
